At 31, I broke my back — a turning point that, while difficult, ultimately set me on a better path both in career and in life. I was fortunate to find myself surrounded by some of the greatest artists in the world of woodturning — towering figures like Pho, Gilson, and Sinner. They became my mentors, shaping my foundation with their vision, discipline, and artistry.
But as the saying goes, nothing grows under a big tree. To flourish, I had to step out from the shadows of those giants, not by copying what they had done, but by carrying their wisdom forward and discovering my own voice in the wood. My work today reflects that journey — rooted in tradition, yet reaching toward something uniquely my own.
